Comic book investing vs the Stock Market
It has been a lousy year for the stock market, but not so for collectible comic books. Those quoted in this article from The Calgary Herald say that prices for rare comics have been going up significantly over the past months. So much so that investors are looking to comic books as an addition to their portfolio.
For investors, the biggest drawback to collecting comic books is the fear that you may have to attend a comic book convention and rub shoulders with middle-aged, pot-bellied delegates dressed in spandex superhero outfits.

1. If you want to make money from your comics, you first have to find a buyer. Comics are not currency. You cannot spend or eat a comic. A particular comic is worth only what someone is willing to pay for it, not what you think or what the price guide says.
2. For some comic books, it may take months or even years to find a buyer who will give you the price you want. Obviously, you don’t want to tie cash you to live on to buy comic books.
